The grips of Kettlewell paddles are, of course, hand carved. This allows them to be tailored to the human hand for comfort when paddling . Each grip is also carved a little thicker or thinner to suit the size of the paddle, since people who use bigger or smaller paddles usually have bigger or smaller hands.
Because they are properly balanced, Kettlewell paddles do not need to be clenched. Our grips are made to be pushed against in the motion of paddling. The grip also balances the paddle, so the grip for the Ottertail, Modified Ottertail, and Tripper are standard to those paddles, the Special has its own standard grip, and the Quill its grip.
